Microsoft has threatened Apple before. They threatened Apple with pulling Office
from the Mac if Apple continued to offer Quicktime for their Windows users. Apple
didn't stop. Microsoft's patience with Apple has worn thin again and stealing
their version of the OS to begin with wasn't good enough. They have ripped off
SpyGlass for the I.E. browser, Be OS, destroyed Netscape, Burst.com and many
more. The company with the biggest pockets that they have already ripped off is
Apple, and having the market on the Office Suite they have a new plan to make up
for some of their own losses.
Microsoft wasn't ripped off, except by themselves, taking a loss on their XBox
machines. Though Microsoft far outdominates Apple in the marketplace, their
pride is hurt. OS X doesn't have viruses, it doesn't have spyware, it is better
at this and better at that. Microsoft's answer is to blackmail Apple to bundle
with all their XP capable machines an over priced XBox and if there is a single
machine that doesn't ship with a bloated price tagged XBox, Microsoft will sever
their relationship with Apple and no longer offer Office for the Mac. If Apple's
price tag wasn't enough, it is about to get worse if Apple bows down and has its
supporters pay more to make up for Microsoft's own foresight and losses on their
XBox venture.
