Nike & Apple Not Apocalyptic
5/26/06
Race Meider
Nike has been vilified in the public as their foreign labor force is underpaid,
overworked and even abused. Apple is partnering with Nike for the Sports Kit, to
connect the shoe and the iPod. The market that is being targeted is small and
the crimes of one company don't spill over to the other. Apple agreeing to
make this deal is being spouted that Apple now looks bad or Apple is bringing
down their moral perception. It's bunk.
I don't see people coming out saying that Mtv is now getting
into or approving the anti-trust issues of Microsoft because of this new Urge deal.
Apple is held to a different standard, specifically they do innovate and have
brought many different products into the mainstream. Most people that know the
history between Apple and Microsoft admit Apple was screwed and that Apple makes
a better product in many instances, but Apple is the one that seems to be put
under the microscope. If you make a good product, get scrutinized? It seems the
courts may take issue with Microsoft, but the public takes issue with Apple. May
it be that they are just used to Microsoft, and Apple is an annoying gnat that
won't go away? Are people afraid of change? Non-Apple people who
already bow down to the leader of OSes, seem to have a lot to say about a company
that they really shouldn't even be worried about. Somehow Microsoft is a synonym
for success and Apple, no matter how many positive reviews and accolades it receives, is the
red-headed stepson of the tech world. If Microsoft is so great and in control,
why worry about Apple? Apple supporters, fighting for what we like about our
Macs and other products are told to get a life. PC people so concerned with a
company that is so far out of the race, we need to get a life? Sounds like
paranoia, eh?
